The Kentucky Division of Waste Management’s Solid Waste Branch has issued the following public notice:
• Public Notice, Public Meeting and Public Hearing, Pursuant to Application # APE20120001, Agency Interest # 808: The division completed the review of an application from East Kentucky Power Cooperative, Inc. for the J.K. Smith Station Landfill, a special waste landfill in Clark County. The application has been determined to be complete and a draft permit has been issued. The application, if approved, would allow the construction of a 36.91 acre landfill to accept disposal of fly ash, bed ash, bottom ash, and flue gas desulfurization process waste (scrubber sludge and gypsum).
The division has scheduled a public meeting and public hearing to be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at the Clark County Extension Education Facility, located at 1400 Fortune Drive, Hwy 627 North, Winchester, Ky. The public meeting, which is an opportunity to exchange information and answer questions concerning the draft permit, will run from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The public hearing, which is an opportunity for the public to make comments for the record, will begin at 7 p.m.
