The Kentucky Division of Waste Management’s Hazardous Waste Branch has approved a trial burn plan for boiler no. 100 at Rohm and Haas Chemicals LLC located in Jefferson County, Ky.
Rohm and Haas Chemicals LLC uses hazardous waste with value as a fuel resource to burn in place of fossil fuels in boiler no. 100. This is a permitted hazardous waste management activity under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). A requirement of the Rohm and Haas RCRA permit states that boiler no. 100 must be retested every five years to verify that the feed limitations established within the permit remain effective in meeting regulatory limits on emissions.
