Volt Visits Schools

From Florence to Frankfort, Lexington to London, the department’s Chevy Volts have been making the rounds lately. The hybrid plug-in vehicles are in high demand in the weeks leading up to Earth Day and are used in a variety of educational outreach programs.

Most recently, Division for Air Quality (DAQ) staff showcased a Volt at R.A. Jones Middle School in Boone County. The vehicle was featured as part of a day-long STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Expo for students. Over the course of the day, some 250 students got a close-up look at the vehicle to find out how it works and to learn more about the connection between transportation and air quality.
