- EPA Announces New Actions to Curb Potent Greenhouse Gases – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognized progress and is taking new steps to curb emissions of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), potent greenhouse gases used in refrigeration and air conditioning. The EPA also recognized 13 EPA GreenChill Partners with environmental achievement awards.
- HUD Launches $1 Billion National Disaster Resilience Competition – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) launched this competition which will fund the implementation of innovative resilience projects to better prepare communities for future storms and other extreme events. This competition promotes risk assessment and planning and is from the Community Development Block Grant disaster recovery appropriated provided by the Disaster Relief Appropriations Act. Kentucky is one of many states to get hit with natural disasters in recent years.
