The Energy and Environment Cabinet, Division of Waste Management, has received a permit application from Louisville Gas & Electric for the Cane Run Station in Jefferson County.
The Division of Waste Management has scheduled a public meeting & public hearing to be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Conway Middle School, located at 6300 Terry Road, Louisville KY. The public meeting, which is an opportunity to exchange information and answer questions concerning the application, will run from 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. The public hearing, which is an opportunity for the public to make comments for the record, will begin at 8:00 P.M.
The application describes the closure of the former Ash Pond and modification to the approved closure plan of the existing landfill. If this application is approved, closure caps would be applied to the former ash pond and the existing special waste landfill. The former ash pond and the existing special waste landfill are separate components and shall remain this way after closure. Portions of the permitted, but unconstructed, special waste landfill will not be developed to the overall permitted capacity (165 acres). Approximately 52 acres were not constructed and will not be constructed, if this application is approved.
The landfill may be accessed from the intersection of I-264W/US-60 W toward US-31W. Merge onto Dixie Highway / US-31WS / US-60W. Travel South on Dixie Highway to Rockford Lane. Turn right on Rockford Lane to Cane Run Road. Turn left on Cane Run Road, Landfill is on the right.

To make an appointment or request information, submit a written request to DEP.KORA@ky.gov at least 72 hours prior to the desired review date. Please include the Agency Interest No. 2121 and Application No. APE20140001 in email request.
