The Small Business Administration’s Small Business Environmental Assistance Programs National Steering Committee (NSC) Awards are the states’ premier environmental award program for recognizing outstanding environmental performance, programs and individual(s).
The NSC implements Section 507 of the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments (CAAA). Section 507 requires states to develop a small business environmental assistance program (SBEAP). In Kentucky, this program is part of the Division of Compliance Assistance, Environmental Compliance Assistance Program, which provides detailed air quality technical assistance services to small businesses and also fulfills additional environmental compliance needs throughout the Commonwealth.
These awards offer an opportunity to honor and recognize small Kentucky businesses, trade associations and assistance programs that have made significant contributions to protecting Kentucky’s environment. The awards showcase the accomplishments in the areas of assistance, stewardship, and leadership.
The nomination period opened Feb. 10, 2015, and will close on April 17, 2015. Submit nominations as outlined in the Nomination Questionnaire in one of the following categories––Small Business Assistance Program, Small Business Environmental Stewardship and Small Business Trade Association Environmental Leadership.
Nominations should include name, email, address and phone number. For more information or to submit nominations, contact Edward Bakos at Edward.Bakos@dep.nj.gov. The 2015 awards will be announced at the 2015 SBO/SBEAP Training, June 24-26, 2015, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
