The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet, Division of Waste Management has scheduled a public hearing to be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the Boyd County Community Center located at 15605 State Route 180, Catlettsburg, KY to receive additional comments pertaining to the Big Run Landfill permit renewal application.
The public hearing is an opportunity for the public to make oral comments for the record, and will begin at 6:00 P.M. EDT.
The Division issued a public notice on July 3, 2015 pertaining to the Big Run Landfill permit renewal application. The Division held a public hearing on the renewal application on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 and received comments.
The cabinet is reopening the comment period on December 14, 2015 in order to allow comments on the proposed permit conditions. Pursuant to 401 KAR 47:140, Section 15(2), public comments received during this comment period should be limited to those pertaining to new substantial information. Comments received in the previous comment period are still being considered and do not need to be re-submitted.
The draft permit, fact sheet, public notice, application, Agreed Order of Judgment (Civil Action No. 15-CI-00618), the Agreed Order (DWM 150210 et al), and the continuation letter have been incorporated into the administrative record; electronic copies of the documents are available at the Boyd County Public Library, Ashland, KY during normal operating hours.
The administrative record can be reviewed at the Division of Waste Management’s Frankfort office between 8:30 A.M and 4:00 P.M. weekdays by appointment only. To make an appointment or request information, submit a written request to DEP.KORA@ky.gov at least 72 hours prior to the desired review date. Please include the Agency Interest No. 40319 and Application No. APE20150006 in email request.
Anyone wishing to make written comments pertaining to the new substantial information must submit them to Danny Anderson, P.E., Division of Waste Management, Solid Waste Branch, 200 Fair Oaks Lane, Frankfort, KY 40601, no later than January 13, 2016.
