Energy and Environment Cabinet Seeks Nominees for Secretary’s Environmental Award

FRANKFORT, KY (Aug. 1, 2016) – Energy and Environment Cabinet Secretary Charles Snavely announced today that the cabinet is seeking nominations for the first annual Secretary’s Award, to be presented at the upcoming Governor’s Conference on Energy and the Environment scheduled for Sept. 21 and 22.

The Secretary’s Award will be bestowed in two categories, one for an individual and the other for an entity such as a business, municipality, non-governmental organization, etc. Nominees should have demonstrated long-term leadership and commitments to sustainability, environmental protection, conservation of natural resources, or responsible development of energy resources.

Special consideration will be given to those who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to preserving and improving the rich and diverse environment of the Commonwealth.

Nomination forms can be found on the cabinet’s website at Nominations must be received by Aug. 26, 2016. The awards will be presented during a luncheon at the Governor’s Conference on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at the Lexington Convention Center.
