The wind howled and the temperatures were brisk, but more than 30 eager volunteers pulled on their parkas and grabbed a trash bag to do litter pickup around the 300 Sower Building as part of Commonwealth Clean-up Week on Wednesday afternoon.
“We had a great turnout from several different agencies within the cabinet, despite the cool, breezy weather,” said Gary Logsdon, Environmental Control Manager in the Division of Waste Management, and the the project coordinator. “We were surprised at the volume of trash and litter we were able to collect, which just confirms that this was a worthwhile project.”
Volunteers from across several agencies picked up trash, discarded tires, plastic bottles and even some caution tape.
About twenty bags of trash were collected from around the building.
