The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet (EEC) is seeking applications for grant opportunities involving renewable and energy efficiency initiatives and technologies. Funds totaling $1.6 million are available from unused environmental mitigation funds from a 2012 Consent Decree. Suggested projects eligible for funding include, but are not limited to:
- Projects to conserve energy in new and existing buildings and facilities
- Purchase and installation of energy storage devices that support renewable energy systems for critical facilities, hospitals, military bases, prisons, universities, etc.
- Implementation of projects to improve energy efficiency or renewable energy projects at water treatment and waste water treatment plants.
The maximum allowable amount for any one grant application is $400,000, while the Cabinet reserves the right to award a lesser amount than the application request. Grant applications are due in the Department for Energy Development and Independence office not later than 4:00 p.m., Eastern Time, on May 15, 2017.
