If your company needs help in dealing with waste, then the Kentucky Division of Compliance Assistance (DCA) has help for you. DCA is hosting a workshop for regulated facilities to understand and comply with waste regulations.
Speakers from the Division of Waste Management and DCA will explain how to identify and manage different types of waste, upcoming regulations and methods to reduce waste generation, including ways to develop and implement a recycling program. Attendees that will benefit from attendance may include environmental or facility managers; small business owners; and representatives of retail, manufacturing, or industrial facilities.
The one-day, introductory workshop will address the two primary topics of management and reduction. The morning session will cover current waste regulations, how to conduct waste determinations, common exceptions to those rules, and hazardous waste generator requirements. In the afternoon, attendees will gain details about waste reduction.
Special guest, Leggett & Platt, Inc., a mattress manufacturer in Winchester and KY EXCEL Member, will discuss their successful recycling and community outreach programs. At the workshop’s end, attendees may visit the Leggett & Platt plant to observe the facility and program in action.
The workshop will be held in Winchester, Ky., on June 8, at the Clark County Ag Extension Office. The cost of attendance is $80 for general admission and $40 for KY EXCEL members. The full agenda is available online at http://dca.ky.gov/Training%20Document%20Library/AgendaWasteMgmtandReduction-Winchester.pdf.
