Division of Forestry Firefighters in Georgia to Battle Massive Blaze

The Kentucky Division of Forestry now has a total of 18 Kentucky firefighters assigned to the 152,515 acre West Mims fire on the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge.

Some of the initial crew is still there and some new staff added to fight the fires. Seven Division of Forestry engines and two bulldozers are also assigned to the fire.

Crews have been methodically mopping up numerous flareups on the west and southeast side of the fire, continuing to make steady progress.
