E. Paulette Akers has been appointed Director of the Kentucky Division of Conservation in the Kentucky Department for Natural Resources (DNR).
“Paulette has shown strong leadership wherever she has served in the Cabinet,” said Charles Snavely, Secretary of the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet. “We are delighted that she will now lead a team providing assistance to Kentucky’s 121 conservation districts across the state.”
Akers, who had been Director of the Division of Compliance Assistance, began her career with the Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection in the Division of Water, working in the Water Quality and Watershed Management Branches for 13 years before moving to Compliance Assistance as Assistant Director in the fall of 2015.
She is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, where she earned a B.S. degree in Biology and an M.S. degree in Applied Ecology. A native of Hart County, Kentucky, Akers lives in Woodford County with her husband and two sons.
