Air Quality Improved, Emissions Down, Division for Air Quality Annual Report Shows

The Kentucky Division for Air Quality (DAQ) is pleased to announce the release of the 2018 annual report, which details DAQ’s mission, function and commitment to protecting human health and the environment.

Kentucky’s continued improved trend of air quality is shown in the charts and graphics found under Technical Services Branch of this report. These achievements are the result of effective regulations and control strategies by the Program Planning Branch, timely and appropriate permits containing all applicable requirements by the Permit Review Branch, and inspecting sources of air emissions and enforcing emission limitations by the Field Operations Branch.

Some highlights from 2018 include:

  • Emissions from stationary sources continued to decrease.
  • DAQ interacted with 4,056 people through stakeholder outreach events across the Commonwealth.
  • The DAQ Field Office Branch team members completed 3,560 compliance inspections at regulated facilities with an 85 percent compliance rate.
  • In fiscal year 2018, DAQ Permit Review Branch issued 440 permits which facilitated economic development activities within the Commonwealth.
