2022 Environmental Excellence Awards Nomination Deadline Looming

The Department for Environmental Protection (DEP) is accepting nominations for the the 2022 Environmental Excellence Awards. The awards recognize individuals, businesses and organizations committed to protecting and improving Kentucky’s environment, and help tell the stories of the significant efforts and activities that promote environmental awareness and exhibit environmental excellence. Nominations are being accepted until June 30, 2022.

One award will be given for each of four categories: Environmental Pacesetter, Resource Caretaker, Environmental Community Luminary, and KY EXCEL Champion. The KY EXCEL Champion will be awarded to an active KY EXCEL member. Businesses, organizations, communities, and individuals may be nominated or self-nominate for the awards.

Nominations Being Accepted for 2022 Environmental Excellence Awards

The Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection (DEP) is calling for nominations through June 30, 2022 for the 2022 Environmental Excellence Awards.

These annual awards recognize the efforts of individuals, businesses, and organizations committed to protecting and improving Kentucky’s environment, and provide a platform to tell the stories of environmental stewardship taking place across the Commonwealth.

“Kentucky’s remarkable natural resources have helped shape our economy, culture and history,” said Amanda LeFevre, Deputy Commissioner of DEP. “These resources also give  us the responsibility of good stewardship. This requires vision, commitment and determination on the part of the agency, Kentucky’s citizens, and the individuals and companies governed by Kentucky’s environmental regulations. We’re proud to recognize their efforts through these awards.”

One award will be given for each of the four categories: Environmental Pacesetter, Resource Caretaker, Environmental Community Luminary, and KY EXCEL Champion. The KY EXCEL Champion will be awarded to an active member of KY EXCEL.

Businesses, organizations, communities, and individuals may be nominated or may self-nominate.

Seeking Nominations for 2015 NSC Small Business and Trade Association Environmental Leadership Awards

The Small Business Administration’s Small Business Environmental Assistance Programs National Steering Committee (NSC) Awards are the states’ premier environmental award program for recognizing outstanding environmental performance, programs and individual(s).

The NSC implements Section 507 of the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments (CAAA). Section 507 requires states to develop a small business environmental assistance program (SBEAP). In Kentucky, this program is part of the Division of Compliance Assistance, Environmental Compliance Assistance Program, which provides detailed air quality technical assistance services to small businesses and also fulfills additional environmental compliance needs throughout the Commonwealth.

The Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection (DEP) honored the six recipients of its 2014 Environmental Excellence Awards during an awards luncheon at the Governor’s Conference on Energy and the Environment in Lexington.

Through this awards program, the department recognized the efforts and activities of individuals, businesses or organizations that are committed to protecting and improving Kentucky’s environment.

“The Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the Commonwealth’s environment. Through this awards program, we have an opportunity to recognize some of the environmental leaders in Kentucky and use their achievements as examples to others,” said R. Bruce Scott, DEP commissioner. “These awards highlight and honor the strong commitment to environmental stewardship.”

Nominations Sought for DEP Environmental Excellence Awards

The nomination period is open for the 2014 Department for Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Environmental Excellence Awards. These awards were established to recognize the environmental leadership efforts and activities of individuals, businesses and organizations in the state. The DEP awards are in their fifth year and coordinated by the Division of Compliance Assistance to support the mission of recognizing and encouraging environmental stewardship in Kentucky.

The awards include three Environmental Pacesetter awards to recognize exemplary efforts to protect the environment, conserve resources and set an example of environmental stewardship.
