Gov. Steve Beshear has proclaimed May 4-10, 2014, as Drinking Water Week in Kentucky as an observance of the value of water to each of us in our everyday lives.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Safe Drinking Water Act that provides quality drinking water and protects the health of our citizens.

Kentuckians rely on their water system to provide a safe and dependable supply of water, both now and in the future. We often take for granted the water that comes from turning on a faucet for a drink, bathing or cooking. Drinking Water Week is a time to reflect upon the importance of our safe water supply and to recognize the dedicated professionals working to keep it that way.
